I miss the mountains, the Woods. In all these years, it’s for the first time I haven’t travelled to mountains to experience the winter chill. The roaring wind, the wind across my face excites me. The sounds of the dry leaves, the squirrels, collecting mountain pines and sitting under the winter sun. If this isn’t an indulgence, what is it?
The winter air could be harsh, but I like those too because that means cuddling under a fuzzy blanket and drinking more hot chocolate and thinking what should I eat. A bowl of soup may be, cookies or lots of nuts.
Now that I have moved to Kolkata, winters aren’t extreme. It isn’t the same. Its a week or maybe fortnight affair. I miss watching the snowfall but what I like about Kolkata winters is how enthused are they about winter festivities. When Park Street is dressed and everyone is merry, you know its the season of all seasons. It’s December.
Since it is the season of all seasons, what I also severely miss is layering, wearing my winter essentials, getting warm in those cute chunky knits and walking the road in those knee length boots. I miss dressing up all cosy.
Well, this year since I did not get a chance to walk in winter essentials, I decided to create some winter looks because hey, I wanted to sink in the believe its December, even though its 24 degrees here.
Look 1 – Fort the Minimalist
Going all grey because I love playing with winter hues and colour grey gives a very European look. Turtleneck being the star of the winter season for decades has never left my wardrobe too. Different shades of the same colour in different textures are no doubt the hottest trend. Also, Plaid and can never go wrong.
Look 2 – The Trench Style for the Edgy.
Ditch the fuzzy knit and woollen trench this year and go edgy and experimental.
Pick up the trench with details, colourful linings, padded shoulders and more. Trench brings the personality in you so let it take the charge.
Well in my case, the Denim trench with ruffles and gingham lining is nothing but imagination, creativity and redefining the power of trench. Also, given my knit a twist by pinning it and turning into a cropped sweater.
For the wild in you, turn on the heat and bring colours to life. Believing it to be the fashion week parade, channel your Inner fashionista and break the rule.
This denim patchwork blazer is my seasons favourite. It’s perfect to brighten up my dull mood and room.
What do you think of my Winter looks?
