The scintillating Himalayas, evergreen spread of trees over the endless humps of mountains under the tufts of dancing clouds weren’t enough to call this holiday a perfect one, until the newly opened hotel “The Maple Residency” in the lap of nature, extended their warm invitation to Team Pentwister for 2 nights. The property is a pathway to the “Buddha Paradise” (that’s how I like to call it), of the decor it offers. From the lobby to the stairway including the rooms and dining area, the place is beautifully designed with big / small, wallpapers / hangings of various forms and mudras of Lord Buddha. The hotel is an amalgamation of the rich Sikkimese culture presented in urban cosmo decor.
The thoughtfully designed property of 25 rooms is located at B.R Ambedhkar road, close to Palzor Stadium (home to the football legend Bhaichung Bhutia) approximately 10 mins away from the vibrant M.G Marg, that gives you an easy approach to the town yet away from hustle bustle of the city. The hotel also boasts of a modern banquet hall named “The Divine hall” catering to 100 guests, apt for business conferences and leisure. In discussion with the owners they also revealed that, another 14 rooms will be added to the property by early next year through an adjoining building and business centre for guest use.
As you are parked, the first sight greets with a display of grand, majestic wallpaper with a lady folding her hands that makes you fold your hands too and bow down. Walking ahead, the lobby has a taste of corporate and state cultural heritage being in the buddhist circuit knitted together to give a rich, opulent and spiritual feel.
Spoonful of incredible hospitality and warm smiles has never hurt anyone. The Maple Residency welcomed team PenTwister with bountiful love and kindness. The hotel team including the general manager Mr. Santosh was there to welcome us, scheduled by a heart felt gesture of greeting with khada (Buddhist ceremonial silk scarf that is presented to inaugurate an occasion or greeting a person) followed by quick check- in process and a little interaction about the property with the front office team.
The Front desk is well equipped, knowledgeable and understands how desperate are you to get a room after an adventurous mountain ride and throw yourself into those comfortable beds. In minutes after check in, the room was allocated and all the personal features placed in the room , immediately made me feel I am on a holiday.
The hotel is categorized into 2 room segments. Executive and Suite Rooms.
I stayed at their Suite room and as I entered the room I was surprised by the efforts of placing a personalized note addressed to Pen Twister.
The room has an extended balcony with a beautiful set coffee table that overlooked the beautiful mountains, lush greenery and the dotted prayer flags. The rooms are well planned in terms of amenities and décor. Décor that is Sikkimese inspired for example, the dragon printed coffee mugs, rugs, Buddha wall hangings, sofa covers etc. to give their guests a feel of being there. The comfortable beds and amenities provided inside the room gives one inner peace on this paradise on earth. The bathrooms are spacious with modern fittings.
It was truly an experience never imagined and absolutely serene to wake up to the magical view of Mt. Kanchenjunga while the room service served delicious breakfast in bed.
