Weekend hits crazy notes, last weekend became even crazier when an ordinary life turned extraordinary with a drive in a Porsche. It was a Saturday afternoon with usual messages to and from our friends tasking on which lounge to hit that night when another message beeped. A message to experience supercars in an event organized by Uber. Along with its regular chauffeur service, uber implemented super luxury car option in Kolkata, on Saturday- 25th June from 12p.m to 3p.m. Though the chances of actually riding on one were slim to none, I kept faith and picked up my phone to book an uber for a ride. As I was sliding my finger from Uber “Pool”, “Go”, “X” and then finally “Supercars”, my heart started to race and palms became sweaty. I clicked on request and voila! a supercar was on its way.
The joy of booking a supercar was settling down and an anxiousness was fast rising with the everlasting suspense of what car will arrive at my door step, in the next five to seven minutes. The excitement was up and from a distance I could notice the curvy headlights, the subtle and straight daytime LED’s and the unmissable music of the monstrous 3 liter engine as the cars 300 horsepower took no time for it to reach my porch. It was a Porsche Panamera, a black colored four seater coupe, breathtaking exteriors and well polished luxe interiors complete with leather seating. The car from outside looks like a sports version of a family car and gives a feeling of a luxury sedan inside, cross-minds similar to an Audi A7.
As we sat and drove off, luxury gushed up our body. Turning heads, the ooh’s and the aah’s all around were hard to miss. Looking away from the windows, interiors created magic, with miles of space, comfortable seating, individual climate controls to name a few of the cars endless list of features that we were enjoying. Everything was just a push of a button away. Ten minutes into the drive, we realized that a city like Kolkata and the condition of what its roads are in, were doing injustice to the car. We could understand the frustration on the drivers mind with half a pedal on accelerator, a full pedal brake was required each time a speed threshold of 30 km/h was crossed. Either for some irresponsible driver out on the road or for a traffic jam. Nevertheless, the car handled any hurdle, puddle, speedbreaker so smoothly that it wouldn’t allow any spillage if you were to have a glass of water while on the passenger seat while the car was moving.
Dropping us back, the car moved on. To create magic in someone else’s weekend. Bidding the car goodbye was difficult but also accepting the reality was motivational, to achieve, to build and to get that car one day.
Its was truly an incredible experience and cannot be taken away from me. It was a “PORSCHE” experience.
P.S: Thank you ThinkQuisitive for giving an opportunity to live a luxury dream.
