kolkata is a well-known name when it comes to Indian wear. The city has seen people from other cities flying to Kolkata for Indian wear shopping. Right from renowned national designer houses the city has a plenty of boutiques, young designer stores and more.
However, the city has always complained of high street western wear. There are designers making uber chic outfits but, its occasional isn’t it? And the regular labeled stores are good for stocking basics (don’t we agree). The city has always missed having a contemporary boutique which is not too occasional but pocket-friendly until “VREDE” a contemporary women’s fashion wear launched last month.
“Vrede” a synonym for peace is a fresh addition to the fashion houses in the city. Bold, prints, structured, cool, feminine yet clean and edgy are a few adjectives to describe this young fashion store called “Vrede”.
Along with stocking and designing clothes, the label does not only focus on making good clothes but also put a lot of effort giving themes and meaning to its collection, Meaningful fashion I must say. Imagine a white linen dress with embroidery so beautiful that explains the chakra of life, and to experience the same you need to visit the store.
As much as the label loves its own work it also loves your own individuality and works in a fluid design process where the designer with his vision and customer’s choice of style edits a product to fit their personality the most.
Here’s a glimpse of how the store looks, the launch madness and my favorite pieces from the collection – Bold, structured in high tech fabrics made with exceptional craftsmanship.
VREDE, a synonym for peace, is not just the name for this label, but also the primary element for its philosophy, design process and policies. VREDE sees the world as a collective of each individual and believes in no boundaries, violence, homophobia, sexism or racism. – Anirudh (Founder).
